Aquaman Just Revealed An AWESOME Sea Dragon

Well, it sure beats a giant sea horse...

If Warner Bros were aiming for a sort of 1980s fantasy movie/Game Of Thrones blend in their Aquaman marketing, they're pretty much nailing. Iffy poster reaction aside, the film genuinely does look like it understands the character and the need to lighten up the DCEU with something a lot more pulpy and there's definitely a hint that it's all going to be deliciously weird alongside the Jason Momoa cool factor.

Not consciously embracing how odd the comic book source material is would have been a mistake - not least because it would have alienated core fans - so the reveals of more outlandish characters and confirmation that Aquaman WILL talk to fish. But equally, giving some of the sillier elements an injection of cool also wasn't a bad idea.

And that's precisely what we're seeing with the release of the first look at the massive sea dragon that will play a part in the movie. EW revealed the creature, which it's fair to assume Aquaman will ride at some point, further fuelling the Game Of Thrones feel. And it's a damn-sight cooler than Aquaman's traditional whip...

Aquaman producer Peter Safran quite openly spoke about the upgrade to his mode of transport:

"The idea was to turn on its head the idea of Aquaman riding a seahorse, take something for which he was mocked and turn it into something terrifying and impressive. He's a Xebellian creature but I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Arthur (Jason Momoa) on one at some point..."

Definitely a smart move. Now all we need is frosty sea zombies and we'll have that Thrones feel absolutely nailed.
