Avengers: Endgame - 6 Big Ways The Trailer Could Be Lying To You

Hey Justice League, THIS is how you remove facial hair.

Avengers: Endgame might be the most secretive blockbuster movie of all time. We're a little over four months out and we only just learned its title, and the single teaser trailer we've been given revealed nothing important in terms of the plot.

But rather than feeling like overkill, this secrecy is entirely justified, and appreciated. After Infinity War's bleak ending left the Avengers in a desperate situation, we're all eager to find out how they manage to put things right, but at the same time, nobody wants to be given too much story information before Endgame releases. Watching it while knowing absolutely nothing will result in the best possible experience, and thankfully - based on their barebones marketing campaign - Marvel seems to agree.

In fact, the studio is one of the most spoiler-conscious movie companies out there, and isn't afraid to significantly alter its trailers, or even include shots that are nowhere to be seen in the film. As a result, it's highly likely that Endgame's first trailer is being deliberately deceptive, and you're being lied to in more ways than one.

6. Tony's Clothing Makes No Sense

There's been a lot of speculation that the shots of Tony we see in the trailer actually take place deep into the film, and that's certainly a possibility.

If this takes place right after Infinity War, why does he automatically assume that Pepper is alive, and that she hasn't been snapped? He doesn't say anything like "if you're still there" while recording his message. Has he seen her alive already? Plus, how does he have a new helmet after his last one was destroyed by Thanos, and he's presumably running low on nano-tech?

Some of these apparent inconsistencies can be explained away of course, but one of the most interesting parts of this scene is the black vest top that Tony is wearing.

Let's assume that this scene follows on directly from the events of Infinity War, as the trailer implies it does. When we last saw him in the latter film, he was wearing a dark jacket with nothing underneath. Since that's vanished here, he must have raided Peter Quill's closet aboard the Benatar to find a change of clothes, right?

Except that a black vest top doesn't really seem like something Quill would own, or even wear. He hasn't shown an affinity towards this type of clothing in any of his prior appearances, instead preferring to sport jackets, t-shirts, and long-sleeved shirts.

Quill is also a lot bulkier than Tony, so how would Tony manage to find a vest top that is, miraculously, a perfect fit?

But do you know who does own a black vest top? Someone who's worn one on multiple occasions in the past? Tony Stark. He wore an identical black vest top with a curved neck in this scene in Iron Man 2.

Presumably, Tony has a couple of these vests on Earth, which could mean that his scenes in the Endgame trailer are set after he's already been home.

Or, this is just deliberate misdirection, or, this scene isn't in the movie at all, so they just used a random costume. At this point, it's hard to guess what Marvel is really up to.
