Batman vs Superman: 10 Reasons Jesse Eisenberg As Lex Luthor Is All Wrong

10. Eisenberg Is WAY Too Young

Fans who are against this casting decision have cited a number of reasons for their discontent, but one of the most popular reasons given is that Eisenberg is just too young for the role. Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey both played Luthor in their late 40's, so at just thirty years old, Eisenberg may be too baby-faced to pull this off. Yes, I am aware that Henry Cavill is only thirty years old too, but Lex Luthor has always been portrayed as an established business tycoon and it's hard to imagine someone as young as Eisenberg act believably in that role. Sure, Mark Zuckerberg was successful at an even younger age, as portrayed by Eisenberg in The Social Network, but we're talking about Luthor here, an iconic character that's been knocking around for over seventy years in the world of comics. You don't mess with the fanboys. Poor Jesse. If only he'd been born ten years earlier.
