Captain America: Civil War Trailer - 8 Easter Eggs And References You Probably Missed

8. Sarah Rogers

The first thing Bucky says to Cap when asked if he remembers Steve is that his "Mom's name is Sarah." An odd proof of identity on the face of it (surely that's public knowledge and exactly what an assassin would know), it's actually a pretty loaded line For starters it's brining the comic Mrs Rogers over the MCU after four films starring her son - in print Steve's mother is likewise called Sarah. She was technically made a part of the MCU in Captain America: First Vengeance, a tie-in comic for The First Avenger, but this marks the first time it'll be said on the big screen (and nobody cares about tie-in comics any way). However, it's not just the canonisation of a name. As seen in The Winter Solider, the death of Sarah Rogers was a major event in both Steve's life and his relationship with Bucky, to the point where Cap would reminisce about the aftermath of her funeral once he discovered his friend had become a Hydra assassin. Going straight to the mother shows this is likely a similarly important moment for Barnes too.
