Gary Oldman joins BOOK OF ELI

Gary Oldman will co-star with the previously cast Denzel Washington in the post apocalyptic thriller BOOK OF ELI, to be directed by Albert and Allen Hughes... the duo's first movie since FROM HELL in 2001. Joel Silver is co-producing with Allen Entertainment, WB will produce says Variety.

"Eli" revolves around a lone warrior (Washington) who must fight to bring society the knowledge that could be the key to its redemption. Oldman has been set to portray the despot of a small makeshift town who's determined to take possession of the book Eli's guarding.
DON'T SAY A WORD writer Anthony Peckham has wrote the latest draft which was first written by AKIRA scribe Gary Whitta. The picture will mark the first time the actors, both north of 50, have ever worked together. Last we heard shooting would begin in January.
