Golden Globes 2013: 10 Things They Got Wrong

5. Christoph Waltz Wins Best Supporting Actor

00615 Christoph Waltz scooped the Best Supporting Actor gong, and a brilliant performance though he gives, my complaint about this is effectively two-pronged. Firstly, Christoph Waltz has been incorrectly categorised by many quarters of the awards press as a Supporting Actor, when really, he isn't at all. Though Jamie Foxx is the titular character, he often sits at the periphery, and it is Waltz's Dr. King Schultz who effectively guides us through the film, gets the best (and the majority of) the dialogue, and is basically the character we get to identify with the most. Waltz should be nominated, but it should be in the Lead category. This, then, would leave the Supporting Actor field open for Leonardo DiCaprio to swoop in and take the award of which he is strongly deserving.
