Man of Steel: Everything We Know So Far

The Story Has Changed

Writer David S. Goyer has not been shy about the fact that it took him some time to crack the story that drives Man of Steel. That said, one would think that telling a Superman story would be fairly easy, especially given the nearly 75 year history that comprises his story so far. But telling a different, newer, and more modern story about The Man of Steel certainly takes some crafting. The team behind the new film has been eager to tell this tale differently and more passionately than ever before. Still, Goyer is also pulling from years of Superman archives, including DC's New 52 line of comics which feature a younger Superman who's not afraid to hurt someone; also DC super-writer Geoff Johns' more recent 2009 series "Superman: Secret Origin," 2010's graphic novel "Superman: Earth One" by J. Michael Straczynski, as well as the New Krypton storylines that ran in Action Comics and several other DC titles throughout 2008 to 2010. Also of note would be the revelation that Henry Cavill himself has been diving into Superman writings in preparation for his role, most notably 2003's graphic novel Red Son, which tells of a Superman raised in the USSR as opposed to the USA. As fans and newcomers alike, we can all expect new facts to be revealed, complete with new twists on familiar characters and icons (Lois Lane might be married?! a female Jimmy Olsen?! Pete Ross isn't Clark's friend?! The S on his chest doesn't stand for Super?!) to round out the supporting stories that make up Man of Steel.
