The Sonic the Hedgehog movie grabbed headlines for all the wrong reasons earlier this year. In their attempt to "modernise" Sonic as a character, the designers tried to humanise his features to make the speedster more "realistic" and the end result was, well, a total nightmare abomination that looked like it could have been the lead in the next Conjuring spin-off.
It caused such a stink that the movie was delayed until 2020, so the effects artists could go back to the drawing board and completely redesign Sonic so he'd no longer terrify every child in the cinema. So far the new look has been kept under wraps, but the character's fresh trim might have just been revealed.
The two images come courtesy of an anonymous source who claims to have received them from a friend who works at Paramount Pictures which, in the grand scheme of things, isn't exactly the most trustworthy story, but it's still an interesting insight into what the redesign could look like.
It's certainly more faithful to the source material, and a huge improvement over the original version, but don't put all your chips on this being the final design, or even an accurate leak, just yet.
