When Channing Tatum first hit the scene a good few years back, he seemed destined for low-brow romantic comedies and dance movies that we were forced to take our girlfriends to. But the man has done a seriously great job in rebranding his image over the course of the last few years, what with his turns in a bunch of movies by Steven Soderbergh, and being genuinely funny in
21 Jump Street alongside Jonah Hill. Which is why, perhaps, he was originally considered as a contender for Asgardian God of the Thunder, Thor, back when Kenneth Branagh was putting together a shortlist of actors he could imagine in the role. Ultimately Tatum lost out, as Branagh decided he wanted to hire an actor with more "Nordic" sensibilities Which is fair enough: I'm not sure Tatum
looks like Thor, but I'm certain he would've looked awesome swinging a huge hammer about the place.
