1. The New Sith Order - Darth Bane & His Path Of Destruction

Bane is more important than anyone I have discussed so far in the real narrative of the Saga. Although, he is not interesting to those that dont care about the SWEU, and some still may never care, but if you do (or want to) then I recommend reading the Path of Destruction arc. These novels follow a youth breaking his bonds of oppression and rising to near ultimate power within the Sith, until he rebuilds it in his own image. Through the novels, we learn that it was Bane that introduced many rules of the Sith that were previously established in the film trilogies, such as the Rule of Two i.e. there is always two Sith, a master and an apprentice. One to hold the power and one to want it, the master would teach the apprentice as much as they could before being killed by the apprentice who would then train an apprentice and so on. Bane realized that this was the only way for the Sith Order to grow strong enough to defeat the Jedi. His view was later vindicated by Darth Sidious who for a time vanquished the Jedi Order. It is these connections that make the Star Wars Expanded Universe so much fun and engaging, and more importantly, worthwhile. So, if you are new to the world outside of the Star Wars films, then check out the items on this list and see what sticks.
