With his Army of the Dead having landed on Netflix this past Friday, director Zack Snyder has revealed that he's got tentative plans to have Amy Adams headline a bodybuilding movie in the same vein as Darren Aronofsky’s stunning The Wrestler.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Snyder explained how he pitched this idea to Adams during the filming of Justice League – in which the actress plays Lois Lane.

“It’s kind of a female version of The Wrestler, about a midwestern housewife who happens to have a pretty good body and starts to do some bodybuilding competitions, and then falls down a rabbit hole of steroids and hormones. It becomes a contest between fitness and family, and she loses her family because she’s spending all her money on diet supplements and drugs and trainers and all that stuff.”

The filmmaker added that he views Amy Adams as the ideal choice for this gig because her love of the craft means that she would be capable of the strenuous work and dedication needed for such a role.

In 2008’s The Wrestler, Mickey Rourke starred as Robin Ramzinski, aka aging pro wrestler Randy ‘The Ram’ Robinson. Reliving his ‘80s heyday, the broken down Randy desperately tries to cling on to his waning fame while attempting to reconnect with his estranged daughter. For his role here, Rourke would be nominated for the Best Actor gong at the 2009 Academy Awards, while co-star Marisa Tomei was up for the Best Supporting Actress award.
