6. Until Dawn

Here's a game that someone should have made years ago; it appears that someone is finally making a game inspired by the classic slasher films of horror cinema, such as Halloween and Friday the 13th. Until Dawn is a fantastic looking game that puts the players firmly in the shoes of one of those dumb teens you find yourself screaming at in the cinema, incredulous that they're not doing something smarter to extricate themselves from the situation. What really intrigues us is that the game is not going to be a straight-up copy of the slasher films; it is a post-modern, self-aware take on the genre, which has deliberately over-the-top acting, silly plot points, and ridiculous jump scares. Think of it as a video game version of Scream, perhaps? Though it has had help from Hollywood scribes, the only thing we're a bit nervous about is the focus on using PlayStation Move to navigate the world; this gimmick could make or break the game, and we hope that the game also accommodates regular controls ably enough. Assuming that they can nail this down, Until Dawn appears to be one of the most promising games of 2013, and we can't wait to experience the silliness in full gory, hammy effect.
