Fear is something that nearly every human being experiences. If you're the kind of person who can stride through life without ever getting terrified of anything, then good for you, but for everyone else, it's something you need to keep at bay.

Thankfully, much like a Resident Evil save room, there are plenty of spaces you can feel one hundred percent safe in. One of the most common examples of this is your very own residence.

The warm comfort of your bedsheets, a nice well-lit living room, a tight closet - all these locations are staples of making yourself feel secure. And what do all these places have in common? Well, they can all be found at home!

However, while a house can feel very well defended, sometimes, the horrors of the outside world come knocking at your door, and they don't take no for an answer.

Home invasions are certainly one of the most horrific things a person can go through, which is why the sick and twisted world of horror video games has played upon that very fear for years. There have been some genuinely hair-raising experiences based on the concept, and the following games are ten of the best!

10. C.H.A.S.E.D.

If video game pacing can be compared to vehicles, then this indie horror title is a Formula 1 racing car.

In this game, you awake one night to discover that a strange stalker is trying to get into your house. You're tasked with keeping the intruder at bay and surviving five nights. However, you soon learn that there isn't just one enemy, and each night comes with a shocking twist.

This game does not let up, as the whole thing is an exercise in following precise prompts. You must rely on your senses and quick reflexes to complete a series of tasks and keep each of the enemies at bay, leading to a high-octane thrill ride that gives you very little room for error.

This intensity does has a downside in that it might alienate many players, as the game is incredibly tough. The intense speed and rising difficulty of each night make C.H.A.S.E.D. a thoroughly challenging experience. But, those who are brave and skilled enough to tackle it will be rewarded with one hell of a frightening title.
