With the Rise of Skywalker closing out the mainline Star Wars saga in cinemas, now is a great time to take a look at the history of Star Wars video games.
Ever since the Empire first struck back on the Atari 2600 in 1982, through to the excellent Jedi: Fallen Order in 2019, the worlds of Star Wars and Video Games have always gone hand in robotic hand.
However, not all Star Wars games are created equally, and for every Jedi Master level game like Knights of the Old Republic or Jedi Outcast, there are some truly awful ones like The Phantom Menace and Super Bombad Racing. These games work in the shadows to tip the balance of the Force so irrevocably toward the Dark Side that not even Luke Skywalker could hope to redeem them.
However, there is another... In this grey area between the two extremes lies a huge pile of Star Wars games spanning multiple generations and countless systems, which are neither great nor terrible.
So, from this ragtag alliance of decidedly mediocre titles, here are a handful of notably shiny gems.
