10 Trends That Are Killing Video Games

8. Unnecessary/Expensive DLC

New games over the past few years have started the popular inclusion of DLC. While at its core DLC is a good idea that can add to the game. A good example is Skyrim: Dragonborn DLC. However, certain game companies have started to have map packs or small additions that are unneeded and should have already been included in the original game. My least favorite aspect of this trend is the fact that individually the DLC can amount to a price similar to that of the game.

Although season passes and other similar services cut down on the cost of each when you pay for all they rarely are a great deal for buying up front. The biggest offenders of this are the military type FPS games like Battlefield 3 and the Call Of Duty franchise. Each new installment has a specific amount of map packs predetermined to be released. So if you buy the latest Call Of Duty for 60 dollars or 38 pounds, and then buy all 4 Map packs for 15 dollars each or 10 pounds that's a total of 120 dollars or 76 pounds for the full game. This is an outrageous amount of money to pay for extra content just to complete your game.
