10 Trends That Are Killing Video Games
7. Day 1 Patch

Another trend that has just recently begun is the day 1 patch. It's not the patches that are the problem it is the issue with them being on release day. It gives off the idea that the game was not finished or was rushed and they didn't have time to fix it earlier. If these bugs weren't caught earlier on in development it makes you think that there are more to come.
A good example of this would be Skyrim. While I loved the game and understand its vastness makes it difficult to manage, I think instead of a day 1 patch they should have spent more time on the game. While it wasn't very bugged for Xbox users, the game was a nightmare for Playstation 3. The patches they did create made it worse and new problems arose. This leads me to believe that the Playstation 3 version was not thoroughly checked and may have been overlooked. This kind of slack on the side of game developers can lead to distrust of games. I am almost certain that Playstation users will be more apprehensive when the next Elder Scrolls comes out.
