10 Trends That Are Killing Video Games
4. Pricing
The price of games has been slowly rising over the past 10 years. One reason this can be attributed to is the rising cost of production, but I believe greed is another factor. A reason this is hurting video games is the fact that neither what content is included nor the quality of the game is considered.
When a game comes out it is automatically priced 60 dollars without any consideration for what is being sold. Variation of pricing would result in higher sales and a higher quantity would be bought. Great games like Far Cry 3 or Elder Scrolls: Skyrim would sell at 60 dollars but games of a lesser caliber would sell for lower prices. With the current state of the US economy games may become a luxury and less commonly bought.
