Hardcore gamers don’t just play video games. They live and breathe them. They want to know about every update, every upcoming release, every event and every bit of news, but it can be hard to keep track of such a fast-paced industry.

Between work, study, family life, hanging out with friends and enjoying other media and hobbies, it’s almost impossible for most gamers to find time to play their favourite titles and learn about the latest releases, but that’s where podcasts come into play.

Whether you’re commuting to work, spending some time at the gym, sitting down for a long study session or something else altogether, you can always find a little time to load up a podcast to learn more about your favourite games and have a few laughs in the process.

There are countless gaming podcasts out there nowadays, but some are much more engaging and informative than others. No matter what kind of games you love, you’ll find hours of aural entertainment in these brilliant podcasts.

10. Three Moves Ahead

Three Moves Ahead

As the name suggests, Three Moves Ahead is all about strategy games. The podcast got started back in 2009 and boasts an incredible library of over 400 episodes, which tend to last about an hour in general but can sometimes go on for much longer. With a trio of regular hosts and frequent guest stars, every episode offers a unique listening experience.

Three Moves Ahead features quite a serious tone as the hosts and guests discuss the intricacies of various strategy games, breaking down design choices, rulesets, gameplay mechanics, and more, as well as analysing the game industry on a larger scale, but a nice amount of humour is sprinkled throughout each episode too.

It’s a fascinating podcast to listen to, especially if you really like these sorts of games and want to hear like-minded, intelligent people analysing every aspect of them. In short, if you’re a fan of the strategy genre, this is the podcast for you.
