10 Zelda Items That Are Immediately Made Pointless After You Get Them

Not every item the Hero of Time uses is worth the effort...

The Legend of Zelda series is one of the most popular franchises in gaming history, having over twenty different extremely successful games that have shaped the industry as a whole.

One of the most interesting parts of each game is the introduction of new and unique items that can be used to complete certain puzzles throughout the game.

Items like the beetle in Skyward Sword, the Wind Waker in Wind Waker, and the many transforming masks found throughout Majora’s Mask make the world that the player can explore all the more interesting.

Using these items in combat and to solve puzzles creates the kind of engaging gameplay that only the Legend of Zelda can produce.

That being said, not every item in the series has been a smash hit. Some items are used once or twice in a temple, and then are simply tossed aside for the rest of the game.

Other items in the game are useful, until an upgrade or another item comes along that does the same thing, but better. These are just a few of the items throughout the series that are basically useless after obtaining.

10. Bow - Spirit Tracks

The bow is a staple in Legend of Zelda, being available in every single game in the series. However, in Spirit Tracks, this item is useless after obtaining it.

You receive the bow in the Fire Temple, the fourth temple in the game, before receiving the Bow of Light in literally the next temple. The Sand Temple forces you to use the Bow of Light to activate certain switches, and ultimately defeat the boss at the end of the temple.

Why then did we receive a lesser version of the bow in the previous temple? It makes almost no sense to include the same item twice in the game, let alone in back to back temples.

Normally the bow will get certain ammunition to make it do different things, like in the case of Ocarina of Time where you can obtain fire, ice, and light arrows. However, to create a completely different bow that does the same thing, only better, makes the original bow completely useless after the Fire Temple.

Quantity is not always better than quality, clearly shown in Spirit Tracks.
