1. Lamb Of God, "Laid To Rest" - Ashes Of The Wake
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oVW8gcse4g Certainly one of the most popular heavy bands today is Richmond, Virginia's Lamb of God (LOG). Laid to Rest is the album's opener and is punishingly heavy. Stylistically LOG features a dual-guitar attack that is highly technical as well as harsh/screamed vocals, the only entry herein where that stylistic device is evident. The band has released six excellent albums since the year 2000, successfully mixing the groove metal and metalcore subgenres. Ashes of the Wake is the band's third release, coming in 2004 and is arguably its most popular with fans. The band releases a documentary titled, As The Palaces Burn this spring in America. This album Laid to Rest applies its namesake to our case for heavy metal conversion with a solid exclamation point.
