9 Dangerous Things Governments Can’t Seem To Keep Safe

8. Hundreds Of Guns

Guns The Department for Homeland Security lost hundreds of firearms that were in use by its agents and officers. Over 200 guns went missing between 2006 and 2008, and many were not even reported lost. According to a report officers left firearms in bowling alleys, fast food restaurants and other unsecured areas. One officer forgot his firearm was on his car bumper and drove away without realizing it had fallen off. Weapons lost by Homeland Security pose a significant risk as they could be firearms that are unavailable to the public or used by those who would be otherwise be unable to buy a gun. The report stated that some of the guns found their way to gang members and teenagers, proving how important it is for officers to secure their weapons at all times.
