Liverpool really don't have the best record when it comes to making big name signings, and this is further proof.

Benteke arrived at Anfield after a superb spell of form for Aston Villa, as the Reds elected to part ways with over £30m to capture the big Belgian.

There was never any doubt in the ability Benteke had, and his aerial threat was something that not many players in the league at that time possessed.

However, Benteke fell foul of simply not fitting into the high-pressing system employed by Reds manager Jurgen Klopp, and was ultimately moved on after 12 months.

The Belgian was at his best when seeing balls fired in to him to hold up and bring others in to play, something that Klopp just was not interested in at the time.

While Liverpool did recoup most of their money when Crystal Palace snapped Benteke up, there's little doubt that he failed to live up to expectations on Merseyside.
