5 Possible Ways To Stop Diving In The Premier League

3. Fines For The Player And the Club

We hear quite often that punishing players finically is probably not the best way to hurt them due to the amount of money they make. It€™s also wise to remember that the higher the profile of the player, the less he is going to be hurt financially due to the higher salary he will be on. However, whatever people say, players do in general care about the clubs that they play for. In my opinion, simulation occurs because the player is trying to gain an advantage for their club, albeit in an unfair manner. Nevertheless, I don€™t think they are doing it to hurt the reputation of the club, despite the fact that this can happen as by product. Therefore, fines that also punish the club involved might prove to a bigger deterrent than simply punishing the player involved. If this was to be introduced then it would also mean that clubs would need to actively discourage simulation. Obviously though, in order for this to work in the best possible way €“ the Football Association and Premier League have to be quite ruthless in handing out the fines, otherwise players will continue to think that they can get away with it.
