Manchester United defeated Galatasaray 1-0 at Old Trafford but critics have been harsh on their performance; while they won they were lucky to avoid a draw. The only goal of the match came in the 7th minute when Michael Carrick scored. The Red Devils enjoyed a slight majority of the possession and they did 14 shots but they lacked the clinical finishing that could be vital in the later stages. The second result that surprised many on Wednesday occurred at the Estadio Municipal de Braga, where CFR Cluj defeated the home team 2-0. Both of the goals came from Rafael Bastos in the first half despite Braga being the far better side. They enjoyed almost three quarters of the possession and had 24 shots at goal 10 of which were on target yet they never managed to beat the keeper. Manchester United the most likely to finish first but the race for second is open. Cluj could continue to beat the odds, Galatasaray could utilise home advantage and Braga can have one of the most sturdy defences in Europe on their day.
