Everton: 5 Reasons Moyes' Men Deserve Champions League Football

1. They Have Earned It

I have mentioned this a few times already but it€™s a point worth repeating with Everton just to show what an amazing achievement their team is. No rich owner, no world class players in a tiny ground that barely holds 40 thousand Everton are true footballing underdogs. Everyone likes to see underdogs rising high and winning big so seeing Everton compete in the Champions League would be a remarkable moment.

Everton have been battling hard all year still in with a mathematical shot even after all the draws they have had this season. They have had 14 draws the same number of games they have won this season which of course is a big blow but still shows a team unwilling to lose. This is also the same club that has spent 59 consecutive seasons in the top flight and survived some tricky relegation scraps in the Premier League but have survived though all of it.

Wouldn€™t it be great to send a team like Everton into Europe after all their financial and footballing troubles? They are not influenced by big spending culture on players or having a chairman that throws millions around like they are pointless Tweets. This is a team that is smart with the budget and the squad of players they have which is a great lesson for any teams over spending and getting into deeper trouble because of it.

David Moyes was given lots of time to build a team to have them play football the way he wants and as a result of that has them consistently on the brink of the Champions League. Sadly the likelihood of them getting European football this season is slim to none thanks to recent draws and a shock defeat to Sunderland. They need the teams above them to lose and will have to win all of their remaining 4 games

It might not happen but I think it would be fitting and a good advert for English football if a team like Everton got a shot at the Champions League next season.
