Liverpool 2-2 Manchester City: 4 Talking Points

2. Manchester City Are In For A Struggle

The Premier League champions defeated newcomers Southampton last week with a late comeback and they were lucky to leave with one point today. They rarely challenged Pepe Reina from open play and they were uncomfortable with the energetic approach shown by Liverpool. Compared to Liverpool, who impressed with their use of Brendan Rodger€™s passing style, City looked disjointed and they never found their flow. While the combination of Suarez, Borini and Sterling constantly challenged for the ball, the City attackers looked somewhat lethargic and Roberto Mancini will be disappointed with the performance of Samir Nasr, who disappeared for portions of the match and failed to provide chances. Their next fixture is against the struggling QPR, who will be hoping to pull off an upset following their decent performance in the same match on the final day of last season. City need to play with the same dynamism that they showed this time last year. Looking at their performances recently, it is strange to think they are the same side who demolished United 6-1.
