Liverpool: 5 Players Who Should Leave Anfield

1. Charlie Adam

Let's start with the obvious shall we? Charlie Adam was one of Liverpool's glut of expensive summer signings under Kenny Dalglish, but failed to live up to the hype. "He's worth 10 million for his free kicks and corners alone!" said Alex Ferguson, who must have been amused to see corner after corner from Liverpool's Adam cleared by the first defender. While 1 in 3 hollywood passes coming off was OK at Blackpool, it quickly began to irritate fans who saw possession squandered time and time again by the Scottish midfielder. Unfortunately, Adam's lack of pace and tackling ability picked him up 6 yellow cards and a red last season, joint highest for a Liverpool player. In a Brendan Rodgers team, the deep lying, defensive midfielder plays a huge part in the team's success, constantly on the ball, moving it quickly and intelligently, but also aware and efficient off it. Unfortunately, Adam's love for the career pass makes him a poor candidate for this role, and his inability to make a clean tackle pushes him even further away from the teamsheet. With Lucas Leiva returning from injury, and the improving form of Jonjo Shelvey and Jordan Henderson towards the end of last season, Adam's time at Anfield could well be up.
