4. Jack Butland

England goalkeeper Jack Butland became a transfer target for a number of clubs in the January window, such as Liverpool, Chelsea and Stoke. His impressive performances for Birmingham City coupled with the Championship side's financial woes and desperate need to sell meant the shot-stopper was almost certain to leave.* And he did, though he didn't join Liverpool, who were thought to be prepared to sell Pepe Reina to make room for the young keeper. Instead he ended up at Stoke** despite Brendan Rodgers' side holding talks with Birmingham over a move. Butland also rejected Chelsea before winding up at the Britannia and the two former European Champions missed out on signing one of the most promising young players in English football. Source(s): *
