Man Utd Transfers: 10 Possible Improvements On Has-Beens Rio & Vidic

8. Ryan Shawcross

Ryan ShawcrossClub: Stoke Stoke have done very well to keep hold of one of the best defensive talents in the League, and their impressive league form this year has been largely thanks to a defensive steel that has propelled them well away from the relegation zone. Shawcross has been a major part of that defensive record, as the English defender has put in some imperious performances for Tony Pulis' side. Shawcross started out at Man United, but Sir Alex Ferguson let him leave for Stoke for just £1million some four years ago, where he has gone from strength to strength. According to the Mail, Sir Alex inserted a buy-back clause in Shawcross' contract at Stoke, giving him first refusal on the defender so he clearly thought the player might go on to be a talent. But even if Shawcross does become available, his price is likely to be considerable, and the interest in the player is likely to be extremely high. Source(s): Daily Mail
