Man Utd Transfers: 10 Possible Improvements On Has-Beens Rio & Vidic

3. Fabricio Coloccini

Club: Newcastle United This may seem somewhat pie in the sky, given the Argentinian's apparent decision to move back to his homeland at the earliest opportunity based on personal reasons, but there may be some hope that over the final 12 games of the season, the club Captain will sort out his issues and decide to remain in England. If that does happen, United could do a lot worse than to bring in the footballing centre-half who struggled to settle at Newcastle initially, because he is the kind of player who would thrive in the defence of a Champions League side. He is classy on the ball, assured when running with attackers and capable of making tackles without the need to actually slide - yes, his heading might not be all that impressive, but he doesn't actually need to use his head. Coloccini also fits the bill of skilled veterans, like Hangeland, who could add something to the United squad.
