Man Utd Transfers: 5 More Signings Needed To Fix Red Devils

5. Fabio Coentrao

Manchester United's veteran left-back Patrice Evra is set to leave when his contract expires in June, according to the Guardian. That raises the very obvious question as to who's going to replace him, with neither Fabio nor Alexander Büttner impressing when they have been pressed into action this season. Leighton Baines, a long-term target and much-supported successor to Evra, looks like he's going to sign a new contract at Everton while another option, Ryan Shawcross, is not the finished article. United need someone who can step straight into the side and make an immediate impact, such as Fabio Coentrao, who is currently warming the benches in Spain. The Real Madrid left-back has fallen out of favour under Carlo Ancelotti at the Bernabeu, making just four La Liga appearances this season. However, the 25-year-old is a real talent and his versatility - he can also play defensive midfield - would not only give United a solution at left-back, but in the middle of the park, too. The Red Devils tried unsuccessfully to sign Coentrao last summer, and with Michael Carrick set to be out for a month with injury, may make a fresh approach before the window shuts.
