Man Utd Transfers: 5 More Signings Needed To Fix Red Devils

4. Ezequiel Garay

United's defence needs further patching up at centre-back with Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic shadows of their former selves and Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling dividing opinion. Of the Red Devil's current central defenders, only Phil Jones could be said with any degree of confidence to be a long-term successor to Ferdinand and Vidic. And with the aforementioned duo nearing the end of their careers, United need to sign at least one new centre-half to shore up their back line. David Moyes's side have conceded 27 league goals this season. Only Liverpool, Aston Villa and Newcastle have let in more of the sides currently in the top half of the table. And Benfica powerhouse Ezequiel Garay could surely tighten United up at the back. Garay has long-been heralded the successor to Ferdinand and the robustly-built 6 ft 4 in Argentinian is a dominating sight to behold. United are thought to be closing in on a deal this month having chased the South American since last year, and will pay Benfica £8 million.
