Man Utd Transfers: 7 Things You Need To Know About Falcao

7. United Can Buy Him Permanently... For £43.5 Million

It's important to remember amid all the excitement that Manchester United have only LOANED Falcao from Monaco, and the striker will spend just one season at Old Trafford unless United agree to fork out and make the move a permanent one. The Reds have the option of increasing the Colombian's stint at the club as part of the deal, but will have to pay a fortune to do so. According to the BBC, United can sign Falcao permanently for £43.5 million, which would make the South American their second-most-expensive signing after Angel Di Maria were they to do so. The Red's decision to make Falcao's stay full-time or not will ultimately rest on how well he performs over the next nine months. Should he be a hit at the Theatre of Dreams and fire them back into the Champions League, fans will be clamouring for van Gaal to sign him up long-term. But even if he flops, the Red Devils can take some comfort from the fact that they have only spent £6 million, and that figure, coincidentally, could be made to look like one of the bargains of the summer over the coming months.
