Premier League Review: 5 Talking Points From Manchester City and Chelsea

5. Manchester City Risk Arrogance

In the lead and having more possession than they could possibly know what to do with (which we saw quite literally, they did nothing), Man City started to laze and fade from ascension and allow Southampton to grow into the game and then take the lead themselves. Though superior quality eventually won out as Manchester City capitalised on the space Southampton afforded them; the arrogance they seemed to have at 1-0 up seemed to come back to bite them. Convinced of their victory they just stopped trying; and led to their problems. Luckily for them it wasn€™t too much of a blunder today, but if City want to retain their title they need to keep focused, down to earth and the battling desire they had last season. Otherwise their title shaped smug may slide off of their faces.
