Spurs Transfers: 5 Signings To Guarantee Top Four Success

5. Dejan Lovren

With Morgan Schneiderlin and Lovren also rumoured to be on their way out, the Saints have a serious building programme on their hands, even though they can now probably afford to do so three or four times over. The Croatian has been linked with a move away from St. Mary€™s all summer, with Liverpool being the most likely suitors, but even though the player himself has said his head is at Liverpool it would be foolish to rule out a move from Tottenham to hijack the deal as Pochettino looks to reunite himself with the his former defender. Under both Villas-Boas and Sherwood the Tottenham defence looked vulnerable with them conceding the most goals in the top eight and conceding at least three goals on eight occasions in the league. It was also patently clear that the Spurs defence lacked cohesion and spirit as once they let in one or two goals against a top side they simply collapsed. Pochettino will want to sort this problem out and adding Lovren to the defensive ranks will help him bring solidity that this side desperately needs.
