12 Recent TV Series On Netflix You Need To Binge Watch

12. Ragnarok

To modern day audiences, the term Ragnarok is a reminder of one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most enjoyable films, but its origins are much, much older than the third Thor offering from the MCU - origins that this Netflix series also borrows from.

A Norwegian fantasy drama, Ragnarok is set in the fictional town of Edda and it follows the arrival of young boy Magne, who quickly begins experiencing strange and powerful abilities - abilities that are connected to the weather itself. And the longer he spends in climate change-plagued town, the closer he gets to the truth, learning of his Norse mythological origins.

An innovative coming-of-age reimagining of the Thor saga, it sets itself apart from previous attempts through its angsty and grounded approach, following in the footsteps of Twilight in that it manages to put a modern day twist on an ancient genre. And even though it's not all perfect, it sure makes for compelling viewing.
