12 Sci-Fi TV Shows Critics Were Way Too Harsh On
11. The OA
Coming out soon after Netflix’s universally acclaimed
(until its third season, at least) megahit Stranger Things, The OA was always
bound to suffer with the inevitable comparisons.
After all, both shows were mysteries with supernatural and sci fi elements which were gradually revealed throughout their languorously paced first seasons, and both fused character drama with more outlandish genre elements to great effect.
However, whilst audiences enjoyed The OA’s more ambiguous story and stately pacing, many critics were annoyed by its so-called “glacial pace” and lack of explanations.
Hang on, aren’t those exactly the qualities critics are supposed to pretend they love?
