At first glance, Doctor Who - that long-standing, eccentric British sci-fi series - and the ever-growing list of big bucks adaptations of Marvel comics from varying studios are not immediate bedfellows. Yet, if you think about it, they actually have a fair bit in common. Both Doctor Who and the likes of The Avengers, Spider-Man and X-Men feature larger-than-life heroes protecting the Earth - and, on occasion, the whole universe - often from alien warlords or invaders, with the help of their loyal friends. And they are both fans of reboots/regenerations. Not to mention the fact that, if the current vogue for science fiction and superheroism holds out, these franchises, owned by the BBC, Disney, Sony and Fox respectively, could keep going on and on. But did you know that they also share a sizeable chunk of the same cast? No less than 17 actors have crossed over between them, at our count. Obviously, there is ex-Doctor Who companion Karen Gillan who went bad, blue and bald for her role in Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy last year but who are the other 16? To find out, let's take a look at those folks that have used the TARDIS/the Bifrost bridge to travel to and from the weird and wonderful worlds of the Whoniverse and those several Marvel universes.
