Doctor Who: Ranking The Weddings Of The Whoniverse

Here comes the bride, all dressed in white.. and possibly pregnant with an alien.

June 26th marks the tenth anniversary of the first airing of 'The Big Bang', the finale of Series 5 of the revived Doctor Who. Aside from giving a brilliant ending to the Eleventh Doctor's first set of on-screen adventures, 'The Big Bang' also featured the wedding of The Doctor's beloved companions Amy Pond and Rory Williams. Therefore, the episode's air-date can be seen as the couple's Wedding Anniversary.

Amy and Rory, affectionately referred to as 'The Ponds' quickly became one of Doctor Who's most popular married couples, going on to share many more adventures with The Doctor until their heartbreaking departure from the series in 'The Angels Take Manhattan'. However, they are far from the only Whoniverse couple to celebrate their big day on-screen.

Unfortunately, from unwanted alien pregnancies to unexpected Zygon Invasions, countries being split down the middle, and time freezing in a single moment, these special occasions rarely pass without some sort of intergalactic incident or timey-wimey trouble. In celebration of the tenth anniversary of The Ponds' big day, let's rank the weird and and wonderful weddings of the Whoniverse.

7. Donna Noble And Lance Bennett (The Runaway Bride)

Donna Noble's Wedding to co-worker Lance gets off to a horrible start when she is unexpectedly zapped onboard the TARDIS before she even makes it down the aisle. The Tenth Doctor, equally shocked by Donna's sudden appearance aboard his ship, soon discovers that she was drawn aboard by a strangely high concentration of Huon particles in her system.

Sadly for Donna, it turns out that Lance never actually loved her. He was working for the spider-like Empress Of The Racnoss, dosing Donna with Huon particles in her morning coffee so she could eventually be used as a sacrifice to wake the Empress's children from beneath the Earth.

There's really no saving the relationship after something like that.

Fortunately, Donna later gets a more successful wedding, marrying Shaun Temple.
