Dredd TV Show: 8 Reasons Why It MUST Happen

7. Netflix Is The Perfect Vehicle For Dredd

Although Dredd's frenzied fan reception has earned it cult status, calls for a movie sequel have fallen on deaf ears - and that might just be for the best.

A TV series on Netflix or Amazon Prime would be the perfect way to build on the world that Travis introduced us to in 2012.

Netflix, in particular, has a strong track record for bringing dark and gritty comics to the small screen, with Daredevil and Jessica Jones going down a storm on the streaming service.

This makes Netflix a more accommodating home for Dredd than broadcast television, with some of the major networks shying away from graphic violence and expletive language (although we're not sure why they stand on the word drokk).

Netflix's partnership with Marvel Comics could pose a problem when it comes to commissioning shows based on rival properties, but Amazon Prime has an equally strong record when it comes to bold television, recently nailing the dystopian concept with The Man In The High Castle.

There's so much scope in the Judge Dredd comics, with countless storylines, villains and supporting characters begging for a chance to shine in a new medium, so a long running TV show would be the best way to do the property justice.
