Friends and How I Met Your Mother are two of the most popular sitcoms of the last twenty years. There have been countless sitcoms across many networks fighting it out to be the best, but these two stand above the rest. And for good reason!

The shows are known for being quite similar. A group of friends, living in New York, navigating their way through life and the obstacles that get in the way. The friendships, relationships and work issues are often identical. Character similarities are especially noticeable.

Ross and Ted are both qualified professors who are subjected to ridicule by their friends for their nerdy ways. Monica and Chandler and Lily and Marshall are the power couples that set the standard for relationships. Even Joey and Barney are both the single friend of the groups and are notorious for womanising. Due to these similarities it can be very easy to mix up moments from these shows!
