10. Robb and Talisa
You might consider it odd that Ive started with one of the only halfway-functional couples to grace Game of Thrones, and I suppose if you take it at face value, youre right its not really a very awkward sex scene, just the culmination of weeks of tension between these two characters. Yet if we watch Robbs amorous conquests back in the aftermath of the Red Wedding, you start to see why this is so awkward. Robb married Talisa shortly after this, effectively dooming his rebellion for loves sake. Pre-Red Wedding, you might have found that laudable, romantic even. Nobody marries for love on Game of Thrones, so good on Robb and Talisa. But now the whole escapade comes with a sort of tragic vibe to book-readers and series-watchers alike. Ive no doubt that those who read the books watched this in the manner of a pantomime I certainly did, and now those who watched the TV show can join us in our anguish as the King of the North shags away his military campaign. The worst thing about it? Roslin Frey the woman Robb spurned for the love of his life was actually very pretty, and seemed a genuinely nice person too.
