With production now finally underway on Peaky Blinders’ sixth season, show creator Steven Knight has moved to announce that this sixth year will be the series’ last.

There was originally a plan in place for Peaky Blinders to get a seventh season, although those plans have now been changed – with the ongoing global pandemic having caused major delays for the production of Season Six.

In a statement, Knight explained:

“Peaky is back and with a bang. After the enforced production delay due to the Covid pandemic, we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher. We believe this will be the best series of all and are sure that our amazing fans will love it. While the TV series will be coming to an end, the story will continue in another form.”

Additionally, executive producer Tommy Bulfin detailed:

“Along with our wonderful, supportive partners as BBC and Netflix, we have been working diligently to ensure we can get Peaky safely back into production; the safety of our cast and crew is always our priority. Thank you to all the Peaky fans who have been so unwaveringly supportive and patient. Series Six marks the end of an epic journey that has entranced audiences since it first started in 2013, but the world of Peaky Blinders will most definitely live on.”

Both Knight and Bulfin tease that this isn’t the end for the greater world of Peaky Blinders, which fits in with previous comment from the series’ creator – with Knight having already teased a Peaky Blinders movie, some form of spin-off, and a want to do “something” with World War II.
