10 UFC Fights That Did Not Go To Plan

9. Gabriel Gonzaga Head Kicks' Mirko Cro Cop (UFC 70)

MMA Heavyweight Mirko Cro Cop was famed for having arguably the most lethal high kick in all of combat sports.

Countless stars had all fallen victim to the move over the years and when Cro Cop finally made his long awaited UFC debut in 2007 a string of vicious head kick finishes were all but guaranteed.

He won his first bout via TKO after ground and pounding Eddie Sanchez into the mat. Maybe his next fight would include a stunning high kick conclusion?

Fans definitely got their wish when Cro Cop took on Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 70, but perhaps not in the way they imagined.

The pair spent a large portion of the first round on the ground, with Gonzaga consistently pummelling his rival until the two were eventually stood up.

It looked like Cro Cop was suddenly back in his element. That was until Gonzaga caught him out of nowhere with a sweetly timed head kick of his own and sparked out the Pride legend.

Cro Cop wasn't the same after this stunning turn of events and he left the company for the first time after his next fight against Cheick Kongo at UFC 75 - which he again lost.
