5 Things You Didn’t Know About Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone

2. He Was Raised By His Grandparents

Cerrone was a rambunctious youngster who would occasionally wind up on the wrong side of the law. Even as a teenager, Cerrone was already getting into scraps with other children. As he was entering high school, his parents divorced, and neither one was is a position to care for their troubled son.

As a result, 'Cowboy' would end up living with his grandparents, Donald and Jerry Cerrone. The elder Donald and his wife were both doctors by trade.

Though they would sometimes receive late-night calls requesting bail money, Cerrone's grandparents exercised patience with the future UFC star and provided a loving home.

Cerrone's grandfather passed away several years ago. Of course, as 'Cowboy' fans well know, his grandmother remains a central figure in his life and frequently attends UFC cards that feature her grandson.
