Despite not currently plying his trade in the UFC, Rory MacDonald is one of the greatest fighters in the world at 170lbs.

The Red King made his professional debut at just 16, and went on to earn a reputation as one of the sport's hottest prospects, racking up an undefeated record and being proclaimed by many as the heir apparent to GSP's welterweight throne.

MacDonald more than lived up to his potential following his signing with the UFC, and in 2015 would get his first shot at gold against Robbie Lawler.

The ensuing contest at UFC 189 proved to be a knockdown drag-out brawl of epic proportions, with both men seemingly unwilling to give an inch in the pursuit of victory. The Canadian MacDonald was up on the scorecards going into the final round, but a resurgent Lawler came out guns blazing, and would ultimately put a bloody exclamation point on the action by finishing his opponent.

In the process of the all-out war, MacDonald's nose had been completely shattered, with pundits going on to speculate in all of his fights since whether it will hold up to further damage.
