7. Kamaru Usman

Kamaru Usman is in a very weird position at the moment. He's a world champion of the biggest MMA organization in the world, yet he appears to be an afterthought in everyone's plans right now.

It's a shame too, as he has shown he can put on a crowd-pleasing effort if he decides too, with his thriller against Colby Covington being one of the best fights of 2019.

Jorge Masvidal publicly stated he wants to throw down with McGregor, and if that falls through he'll fight Usman. McGregor, on the other hand, has barely mentioned 'Marty from Nebraska' unless he's asked specifically about the matchup.

Dana White has also categorically said it is not happening, and he'd rather see Usman face off against Masvidal. Usman has the second fewest followers on social media of anyone on this list too, so it's not as if he brings a relatively large audience with him either.

McGregor thrives when he gets to build up to a fight with a big personality, and Kamaru Usman has mostly gained his recent popularity due to him silencing the much-despised Covington more than his ability on the mic or selling power.

Conor's eye is definitely on being the first three-weight world champion at some point. Kamaru offers this up on a platter, but McGregor seems disinterested due to his wrestling heavy style and the fact there are much more lucrative fights on offer.
