5. December To Dismember 2006 - (90,000 Buys)

WWE's version of Extreme Championship Wrestling barely qualified to be called that after a while - so sanitised was the ECW brand by late-2006 that all the promise shown by 2005's One Night Stand event had all but vanquished, committed to memory as a flashback to the way things used to be for the hardcore promotion. Paul Heyman, once the head honcho of ECW, has been less than silent regarding his hatred for December To Dismember, an event which barely resembled the vision he had for the brand. Simply put, even the most passionate of ECW fans must admit that December To Dismember is a bit of a slap in the face. Up until 2014, the Pay-Per-View held the distinction of being the lowest buyrate in WWE history, which is certainly not something Heyman was too proud of. Feeling he had his hands tied behind his back, forced to push talent such as lifetime mid-carder Hardcore Holly into main events, Heyman would depart WWE shortly afterwards, only returning with Brock Lesnar in 2012.
