10 Things AEW's Tony Khan Must Do With ROH

No, it’s not Shane, it’s him, Tony. But now that he’s bought ROH, what should he do next?

Tony Khan’s job as wrestling promotor is a fine balancing act because he needs to hype up AEW or else he’s not doing his job properly. On the other hand, over-hyping things can lead to fans feeling underwhelmed.

Remember when Jon Moxley and Jake Hager had the best empty arena match ever, until we saw it and it clearly wasn’t? Or what about Christian Cage? He was a great signing and has brought loads to the product. So it kinda sucks for him that Tony Khan hyped his arrival so hard Christian would have needed to be a resurrected Randy Savage to meet expectations.

More often than not AEW has delivered on or even exceeded Tony Khan’s promises, but fans don’t forget the times they felt a bit let down. All of this can lead to people rolling their eyes when “Sweet TK” starts talking up his latest bit of big news, as he has done recently. In the last couple of weeks, amidst speculation, there’s also been a fair amount of skepticism.

What a delight then, to find that Tony’s big news is genuinely worth getting psyched over. Many AEW fans will already be big fans of Ring Of Honour. Still more will be aware of its incredible legacy built by the likes of Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, Samoa Joe, Bullet Club and others. But buying Ring Of Honour is only part of the story.

What Tony does next is even more important...

10. Give Us All In…

Tony Khan is clearly delighted with his new purchase, and judging by Wednesday night’s Dynamite, he wants us to feel the same way. When he shared the big news his excitement was both palpable and infectious, with fans roaring their approval.

The thing is, Tony Khan isn’t our mate. He’s a rich businessman who’s just struck a good deal. Good for him, but if he wants fans to remain as enthusiastic as he is, we need to see how his new purchase is going to benefit us.

All in is a crucial part of AEW history but was previously owned by the Sinclair Group as part of the ROH video library. Now Khan can bring it back under the AEW umbrella but also emphasise how his new company was a part of that history too. Gifting All In for free to subscribers on Bleacher Report or FITE would be a nice gesture and also get fans excited for whatever new direction ROH takes.
