10 Times WWE Capitalised On Low Expectations

8. The 24/7 Title

No title in WWE has ever had its stock rise quite like the 247 championship

When it was revealed by hardcore legend Mick Foley in May 2019 on Raw, there were two key issues: Firstly, the belt was one of the worst looking WWE had ever produced. Secondly, it was clearly intended it to be a comedy belt, with the uninteresting scramble to become its first champion rendering fans apathetic to the title within minutes.

Given there was now nothing serious to expect from the title, WWE let R-Truth take the strap and do whatever he wanted with it. Truth managed to turn the belt into one of the highlights of each week's episode, with his antics with Drake Maverick providing consistently hilarious content, a rare sight in WWE.

Moreover, Truth and WWE took advantage of social media platforms to truly make it feel like a championship that could be defended twenty-four hours, seven days a week, pinning Jinder Mahal while up in an airplane for the company's YouTube channel.

The 24/7 Championship became one of the best parts of WWE's weekly product, and though it has somewhat lost it lustre recently, there is no denying the comedy gold the company was able to pull out of fans’ meagre expectations for the belt.
